This self-paced online course provides a clear, structured understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and obligations of directors operating in today’s demanding governance environment. Designed for current and aspiring board members, the course explores how boards are expected to direct and control organisations, oversee strategy and risk, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and promote ethical conduct and accountability. The programme combines governance principles with practical board-level insights, enabling participants to better understand what is expected of them in practice. The course is delivered through short, focused micro-lessons that allow participants to learn at their own pace while maintaining a coherent and comprehensive learning journey. Knowledge checks are integrated throughout the programme to support understanding and CPD recognition.

  • Understand the layered corporate governance environment in which directors operate, including the expectations arising from internal governance frameworks and the roles of CySEC, ESMA, and CBC
  • Distinguish between agency and stakeholder governance agendas within the context of modern regulatory and supervisory expectations.
  • Identify directors’ legal, fiduciary, and regulatory duties, including obligations arising under applicable frameworks and guidance issued by CySEC, ESMA, and CBC
  • Understand supervisory vs management functions of the board, with reference to regulatory expectations regarding oversight, accountability, and control
  • Apply regulatory expectations to board composition, behaviour, and effectiveness, including relevant standards and guidance from regulators

Training Duration

At the end of each session, participants take a Quiz to complete their learning unit and earn a Certificate of Completion upon completion of all units.
