This course equips students with the skills to understand and apply management accounting within organizations, enhancing decision-making processes. Students will learn foundational principles of management accounting, understand cost handling, and recognize various accounting approaches. They will make informed judgments to support management decisions and grasp why effective management accounting is vital for any organization.

The curriculum covers techniques for managing direct costs, revenues, and short-term overhead costs, along with tools for decision-making based on estimates of costs, revenues, and cash flow. Practical skills taught include budgetary apportionments, variance analysis, cost-volume-profit analysis, and working capital management. Students will also learn to create simple budgets, monitor cash flows, and report financial information.

Students will use spreadsheets extensively to perform calculations, manipulate data, and prepare forecasts. Essential spreadsheet functions such as formulas, sorting, filtering, and the use of pivot tables and charts for presentation will be covered.

Ethical principles are emphasized throughout the course, underscoring the importance of integrity, objectivity, and professional competence in all accounting activities.
