Course Overview
This qualification provides a comprehensive introduction to the financial services industry with a specific focus on investments from a global perspective. It is the first step in the CISI’s qualification pathway, and it is taken by many practitioners as it is the foundation exam for higher level CISI qualifications.
The International Introduction to Investment offers a broad introduction to the financial services professional sector, with a specific focus on investments from a global perspective. The course focuses on international markets and covers key financial principles and products in depth including assets and markets, equities, bonds, derivatives and investment funds.
It explores the broader economic environment in which the financial services profession operates and looks at how economic activity is determined and managed in different economic and political systems. The course offers an introduction to financial services regulation and ensures candidates are provided with an understanding of ethical behaviour and acting with integrity.
The current Syllabus (Edition 17) for the Certificate in International Introduction to Securities & Investment is valid from 10 September 2024 until 9 September 2025.
Learning Outcomes Each learning objective begins with one of the following prefixes: know, understand or be able to calculate. These words indicate the different levels of skill to be tested. Learning objectives prefixed:- know require the candidate to recall information such as facts, rules and principles
- understand require the candidate to demonstrate comprehension of an issue, fact, rule or principle
- be able to calculate require the candidate to be able to use formulae to perform calculations
Accreditation and CPD Recognition
This programme has been developed by the European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF), a globally-recognised training institution.
The syllabus is verified by external subject matter experts and can be accredited by financial bodies for 8 CPD Units that approve education in general financial training, such as the CISI.
Eligibility criteria and CPD Units are verified directly by your association, regulator or other bodies which you hold membership.
